Radon Gas Testing Services

A To Z Home Inspector Services provides valid and affordable radon gas test results! Hire a qualified radon tester who is educated and trained to know the proper conditions, test devices, and guidelines for obtaining reliable radon test results. Unlike most radon gas testers, we are radon professionals certified by The National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). We abide by the NRPP Code of Ethics and use state-of-the-art continuous radon monitors to detect radon levels in houses and other buildings. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that all homes in the United States, whether new or used, should be tested by a radon gas measurement professional. Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking.

Radon Gas Mitigation Services

A To Z Home Inspector Services provides world-class radon mitigation services! Elevated radon concentrations can be reduced by our NRPP-certified radon mitigators. We focus on active soil depressurization techniques most commonly used to capture radon laden soil gas moving through the subgrade and entering the structure because of pressure differentials between the interior of the building and the underlying soil/geology. Our systems collect radon from the soil before it has a chance to enter the building by applying a vacuum to the underlying soil greater in strength than the vacuum applied to the soil by the building. This technique is even more effective if the vacuum is applied to where the radon enters the home (such as sumps) or the permeable portion of the subgrade. Thermal bypasses, or conduits through which air can be drawn up through house, can also be blocked to reduce radon entry.

  • Properly installed radon control systems reduce radon concentrations by up to 99 percent.
  • Radon control systems are a home improvement that require little maintenance.
  • Operating costs for our mitigation systems are typically less than $10/month.
  • Radon control systems effectively reduce the occupant’s risk of radon-induced lung cancer.
  • Follow-up tests of these systems ensure they are operating properly and performing as designed.

Drone Roof and Gutter Inspection

A To Z Home Inspector Services can offer you a “birds-eye” view of roof defects. We utilize drone technology with a high-definition camera to perform thorough inspections and clearly view areas that are otherwise challenging to see! Drone inspections help to identify defects on roofs, roof vents, chimneys, service entrance conductors, and guttering systems so repair estimates can be made.

Septic System Inspection

A septic system inspection is highly encouraged, and the tank should be flushed. This inspection involves pumping the tank, evaluating the entire system, looking for worn out parts, assessing the tank’s condition, and looking for other related defects. A septic system inspection is beyond the scope of a home inspection, so it is important to inspect the septic system for defects and prevent costly repairs or future environmental problems.

Sewer Scope Inspection

We recommend a separate video/camera inspection of the sewer lines for both new and used homes. Testers insert a video/camera into the drain lines to inspect the pipes’ interior, identifying potential problems like cracks, breaks, or root intrusion. Most homes built before 1975 included cast iron pipes in the plumbing system. Aging cast iron plumbing pipes are particularly at risk of developing costly defects that a home inspector will not see and are not a part of this home inspection. Newer homes that use PVC or ABS piping (which is cheaper, lighter-weight, less prone to corrosion, and easier to repair than cast iron) may also have defects that a sewer scope inspection can reveal.

Mold Inspection/Testing

Mold caused by moisture and a lack of air circulation can be a serious problem because it can cause respiratory issues. Mold spores are often invisible and can be present without noticeable signs of mold growth. Testing can reveal the presence and type of mold, allowing you to determine the extent of the problem. If mold is harmless, then the testing services can provide peace of mind. However, if mold is identified as a health risk, then the test results guide remediation efforts to ensure thorough removal and future prevention.

Lead Based Paint Inspection/Testing

The inspection/testing identifies the presence of lead-based paint in the paint itself and any lead contaminants that might have spread as dust to surrounding property areas. Lead inspectors can identify if there are any lead hazards in or around your home or property. The goal is to pinpoint lead sources and to implement strategies to reduce the risks. Lead was used as a stabilizer in paint until the 1970s because it prevented cracking. The older the home, the greater the chance of lead-based paint. Numerous health problems are linked to lead exposure—brain damage in children, kidney issues, damage to the central nervous system, even death. If buyers are interested in a home built before 1978, a professional inspection and test for lead hazards is a sound idea.

Asbestos Inspection/Testing

Asbestos inspection/testing should be only done by qualified professionals. If asbestos is identified, then safely and quickly removing it is critical. This process should always be handled by professionals as the removal of the asbestos can create more of the dust that is linked to health hazards. Asbestos can become a serious health issue after untrained people try to remove it without taking proper precautions, when it is disturbed during remodeling, or when it deteriorates because of age. Friable asbestos will crumble or flake off when touched. The airborne particles cause negative health issues. Friable asbestos poses a significant health hazard to occupants.

Air Quality Inspection/Testing

Air quality samples are collected from different areas of the residence to determine which areas show high mold spore counts. These air samples are sent to a third-party lab to be processed. The air quality inspection report reveals whether the air quality inside the home is equal to or better than the air quality outside. Since we are taking samples in various parts of your home, the results also indicate which areas have high spore counts and which areas do not.
